Our family has taken a trip to Hilton Head every year for the past 35 years  We have gone in various stages and with various family members at any given time.  This is only one of those incredible trips.

We love traveling here because the beaches are gorgeous, there’s tons for both the kids and adults to do, and it’s not too far to make it a road trip!

Though we spent lots of time at the beach and in the pool, the kids also got to see horses and even an alligator. We also had some great food at Poseidon and Nectar.

Our journey to Hilton Head started with an easy exit via car out of Chicago, through Indiana to get to Tennessee, our 1st stop was Pigeon Forge via the breathtaking Smokey Mountains then onto Gatlinburg for a few nights of sightseeing and fun.  The trip was uneventful but beautiful driving through the mountains!  We drove to Hilton Head and checked into our lodging for the week.  HHI is known for it’s amazing beach, you can bike ride on it during low tide.  There are many restaurants and especially Greg Russell who has been entertaining the kids for 40 years at the ‘singing tree”.

We took a side trip to Savannah, known for Forrest Gump’s bench and “a box of chocolates”.  This is a very pretty city on the water with quaint shops too!
