Starship Travel’s 2020 Favorites

Though this year was not like any other, Starship Travel still found a way to go out and explore for our clients. It is extremely important for us to continue experiencing things on behalf of our clients, as they change so frequently nowadays! “We know what we sell, because we’ve been there” is our motto, and we want to always promote tried and true destinations.

Some of our favorite excursions and new experiences of 2020 include,

Xcaret Park in Playa del Carmen

To kick off 2020, we journeyed to Rivieria Maya, Mexico and visited the Xcaret Hotel and Parks. There are 50+ natural and cultural attractions where guests can discover the Mayan ruins, visit the Coral Reef Aquarium or watch the thrilling Xcaret Mexico Espectacular presentation. Here, Karen was chosen to proudly wave the American flag during the show. It was a huge honor, and an awesome memory of this trip!

5th Annual Travel Show

On March 8th, 2020, Starship Travel hosted our 5th Annual Travel show at the Elgin Country Club. Despite the pandemic shutting the country down on March 13th, we had a great turn out and it was a beautiful event! We are hopefully going to have another Travel Show in the fall of 2021 to Celebrate our 35th Anniversary. More to come!

TRS Coral Hotel in Costa Mujeres

One of our favorite hotels that we have stayed at in 2020 was the TRS Coral Hotel in Costa Mujeres. The hotel is gorgeous, and has amazing service where there was even a butler available to us. It is an adults-only hotel, so it was an extremely peaceful stay. The other property, the Grand Palladium, is family-friendly, and guests are able to use both properties. This hotel has an amazing spa and an incredible tennis facility. There are even experts from Spain available to guests.

This is an especially stand-out hotel in our minds because there is a gorgeous village nearby with a Catholic church, restaurants and a theater with awesome shows. This would be an amazing location for a destination wedding!

Touring Isla Mujeres on golf carts

During our trip to Costa Mujeres, we decided to visit Isla Mujeres. Renting golf carts to tour the island was the perfect way to drive around the island and enjoy all the beautiful sights! We ended our day with a boat cruise through Cancun Adventures where we enjoyed some amazing food.

The Green Grotto Caves in Jamaica

One of our favorite excursions was to the Green Grotto Caves in Jamaica. This historical site is where the slaves escaped from their masters by using these caves to get to the other side of the island. We even climbed the 65 steps to get to the underwater river, which was a challenge in itself! There is surprisingly a lot of history in Jamaica, and we love finding all the best activities for our clients.

Sanctuary Cap Cana in Punta Cana

This resort made it onto our favorites list, despite all the other amazing hotels we visited this year, because it was incredible. From the staff who treat us like family to the beautiful room we stayed in, all we could say was wow. The rooms come in single and two bedroom villas for more than just intimate couples. And, they also come with butlers! The staff here was impressive from the time we entered the hotel to when we left.

This would be a great property for a honeymoon or a couples getaway, because it is a quieter resort with awesome amenities.

Below are images from The Castle at Sanctuary!

Here are some restaurants that are at the Sanctuary. We ate at the Blue Marlin for lunch, which was outstanding. The Mahi Mahi was fabulous. Then, we had some time at the pool at Sanctuary. After doing site inspections and staying at this hotel, it was evident that this property would be an amazing destination for any and all guests!

Virtual Kentucky Derby

Although our annual conference trip to Kentucky for MAST canceled, we still had fun participating in the Virtual Kentucky Derby. MAST staff put together a Zoom affair, complete with hats and drinks just so we could feel the experience.

Australia Virtual Vacation Webinar

It wouldn’t be a 2020 wrap-up without mentioning some of the amazing Zooms and webinars we attended! Throughout 2020, Starship Travel agents attended hundreds of webinars in order to refresh our knowledge on destinations we have visited, and learn brand-new information on places we haven’t traveled to yet. One of our favorites was the Australia Webinar run by Jeff Adam on April 23rd. We loved this one because we had a group trip to the ‘Down Under’ planned for October 2020 that was unfortunately unable to travel, due to Covid 19. Hopefully, this trip will go on as planned soon, so contact us if you are interested.

Some of our other favorites were webinars on Cruising, Europe, Alaska, Trains trips, the National Parks and so many more. All agents continued to learn as much as possible during this down time due to Covid. Continued education is a very important part of Starship Travels success.

.In 2021, we are looking forward to,

  • Getting our clients back into the world and traveling! As more places open up, more and more people are beginning to travel to the destinations deemed safe.
  • Aruba in February! This will be one of our first trips of 2021.
  • Traveling to Greece in May. We are hopeful to take a trip to Greece this spring, which will be our first time visiting!
  • Disney World in June. This is one of our favorite destinations, so we are always excited to return, especially with family.

And now we are planning our trip to South America February 27, 2022. Call us now to reserve your space. We are holding group space with many big perks included. This is a trip of a lifetime.
